Situated 18 km north of Ahmedabad, Adalaj is a small village, which was built by Queen Rudabai; in 1499 AD. Queen Rudabai was the wife of the Vaghela chief, Veer Sinh. Vav means a step well. A wonderfully chiseled step well, Adalaj Vav is considered as the premium architectural structures of Gujarat.
Constructed by Sultan Ahmed Shah in the year 1411 AD, the Bhadra fort is one of the most ancient forts of the city, which offers a glimpse into the history of the Ahmedabad and of India. Located at the north of Ahmedabad, Rani Roopmati Mosque is a significant gravestone built by Sultan Mehmud Beghara. Built during the period of 1432 to 1440 AD, it was named as Rani Roopmati Mosque because she (Rani Roopmati) was his hindu wife, who was also the princess of Dhar before getting married to the Sultan Mehmud Beghara. Her tomb is also positioned near the mosque.
Founded in the year 1917 AD on the banks of River, Sabarmati Ashram also known as Gandhi Ashram or the Harijan Ashram served as the residence of the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi. Gandhiji leaded the Dandi March, on 12th March 1930 from this place. This March was a significant event in the freedom struggle of India.
Situated in the Moti Shahi Mahal in Shahibag areas, Sardar Patel National Memorial is premier historical site in Ahmedabad city of Gujarat. Made in honor of the Iron Man of India, this historical building is today a museum and also considered as an exhibition center.
